- Commitment to finding cures for breast cancer and improving the lives of cancer patients.
- Create and maintain a safe lab space where we strive to normalize open discussions around identity (eg: race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, etc) and contribute to the betterment of the wider Hutch community.
- Value and encourage playfulness in science, valuing discovery and scientific freedom.
- Value and participate in active mentorship within and outside of the lab.
- Give students ownership of project.
- Mentor in a way where students understand the science they are contributing to.
- Value kindness.
- Respect others’ boundaries and comforts/discomforts.
- Have respectful conversations to resolve conflict.
- Leave room to make mistakes (and learn from them) and value forgiveness
- Support each other’s growth and success.
- Challenge each other to encourage each other to achieve their best, not to put each other down.
- Value open and honest communication.
- Feedback should be constructive (for science and otherwise).
- Collaboratively answer questions and perform cool experiments!
